This piece was created as an exercise in 12 tone pitch management. Each phrase of the piece (separated by double bar lines) adds a tone until all 12 tones are heard in a single phrase (mm. 23-24). Pitches are then removed from each phrase in the same order. Some enharmonic spellings are used and notes are sometimes repeated within each phrase. Phrases were intentionally kept at two measures each.
